The DC metro sits on Piedmont clay — one of the most expansive soil types in the country. It expands 30% when wet. Concrete poured over inadequately prepared clay subbase cracks within two to five years, guaranteed. We've seen it hundreds of times on properties where a previous contractor cut corners.
We started DC Superior Concrete specifically to solve this problem. Every member of our crew is trained on subbase preparation, mix design for Mid-Atlantic conditions, and the sealing requirements that protect DC concrete from freeze-thaw and deicing salt.

OUR STANDARDS
No Skipped Permits
Every project we take is permitted properly through DC, Maryland, or Virginia — whichever jurisdiction applies. Unpermitted concrete work creates liability for homeowners. We never skip this step.
Written Quotes Only
We don't do verbal estimates. You'll receive a written quote with scope, materials, timeline, and price before any work begins. No surprises on invoice day.
Engineered Subbases
We excavate to proper depth, compact native soil, and install a minimum 6-inch crushed gravel base on every residential pour. In DC's clay conditions, this is non-negotiable.
Air-Entrained Concrete
All exterior concrete we pour uses an air-entrained mix. The entrained air provides room for water expansion during freeze-thaw cycles — the primary reason concrete spalls and cracks in DC winters.
Premium Sealing
We seal every exterior pour with penetrating silane-siloxane sealer that bonds with the concrete and repels water and salt intrusion. This is the single most important step most contractors skip.
Clean Jobsites
We protect landscaping, clean concrete splatter off adjacent surfaces, and haul away all debris before we consider the job finished. Your property leaves looking better than we found it.

We serve the full DC metro area with no travel fees for projects within our service territory. That includes the District itself, inner and outer suburbs in Maryland, and Northern Virginia from Arlington to Fairfax County.
